Kaithal ETO arrested by anti Corruption Bureau team taking bribe of Rs 1.40 lakh

KAITHAL: The Anti Corruption Bureau team in Kaithal has arrested Dinesh Kajal, Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO) of Kaithal, taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh 40 lakh this morning. The ETO had demanded a bribe of Rs 8 lakh from a person from Chika by threatening to attach the guarantor's land for not repaying the installment of liquor contracts.

Earlier, he had allegedly taken RS 60 thousand rupees from the complainant. Inspector Mahendra Singh of the Kaithal Anti Corruption Bureau team said that this action has been taken on the complaint of complainant Rishipal, resident of Cheeka. The accused was demanding bribe by threatening to attach the land of the complainant. Chika resident Om Prakash alias Buddha took the contract for the Excise Department in 2019-2020.

Later, he was declared a defaulter by the department for not paying the installments. Rishipal had mortgaged his agricultural land as guarantee with the Excise Department. The Excise Officer was threatening to attach the land given in the guarantee as well as other property of the complainant. For this, he also wrote a letter to the Tehsildar. After receiving the complaint, the Anti Corruption Bureau team called ETO Dinesh Kajal in a planned manner to the new office of the department behind the Kaithal Padma City Mall.

As soon as Rishi Pal handed over bribery amount of Rs 1.40 lakh to ETO Dinesh Kajal, the Anti Corruption Bureau team arrested him red handed. Inspector Mahendra Singh of the Kaithal Anti Corruption Bureau team said that a case is being registered against him by registering a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act
